A new Central/Clemson AnMed emergency room will be completed in spring 2027.
AnMed is set to add an emergency room in the Central/Clemson area.
AnMed Central/Clemson, an addition to AnMed’s various established health care campuses across South Carolina, is currently in the process of construction and is now scheduled to open in the spring of 2027.
The creation of this new AnMed center was announced in August 2025 and is considered a massive project — $105 million has been invested in its development and production, “which is three times larger than the ambulatory campus at Piedmont that opened in May,” AnMed CEO William Kenley told The Post and Courier in an interview.
The new location can be found at U.S. Highway 123 and 18 Mile Road and will act as a new medical resource for those in the growing area. AnMed Clemson is located right outside of Clemson’s campus, and is set in a convenient location for people in areas such as Clemson, Seneca and Central.
While AnMed Clemson is operating and providing care for various communities, AnMed Central/Clemson will be an important addition to its current services and will specifically provide a 24/7 emergency service. This feature will allow for numerous lives to be saved.
“This is a huge investment for our community. It’s health, well-being and future,” Robert Halfacre, mayor of Clemson, told The Post and Courier.
“It’s enlightening to know how it’s touched lives, having seen what’s already happened (in Piedmont). It’s not just advanced medical technology, services and convenience, but the care, the compassion — the compassionate people that make such a special difference for our community,” Halfacre continued.
The AnMed will provide numerous resources other than emergency services, including physical therapy and imaging services.
While the emergency room’s main objective is to care for patients, AnMed Central/Clemson will also provide new opportunities for physicians and health care providers. There will be a minimum of 50 new, high-paying job postings once the new AnMed opens its doors. The center’s operation will create jobs for an estimated 150 employees.
