Clemson's rugby team prepares for a match in 2022 at The Pier in Seneca, S.C.
The Clemson rugby team finished its regular season at home last Saturday, winning both of its sides’ matches against the Alabama Crimson Tide.
In the first match, the Tigers ended with a 43-5 win. In the second, they remained victorious with a 24-12 win.
Marking it as Clemson’s senior day and the Tigers’ last home match of the year, the two wins helped confirm the team’s slot in the Southeastern Collegiate Rugby Conference (SCRC) playoffs.
With the wins, Clemson is ranked No. 2 in the Eastern Division I conference rankings with a 2-2-0 record, just behind South Carolina
Last season, the Tigers made an appearance in the SCRC championship after defeating Kentucky in the semi-finals but inevitably fell to Tennessee.
The SCRC playoffs are matches held among the top four ranking teams, with the eastern and western division competitions acting as the semi-finals, to which the winning teams of each division will compete in the championship.
After their victory this weekend, the rugby men are coming off with high energy as they head to the SCRC playoffs for the second year in a row, which is set to take place on Nov. 12. The location and opponent have not been announced, as Clemson will take a bye week before the team takes the field for the semi-finals.
