Aamir Simms left Clemson as one of the most decorated basketball players in recent memory for the Tigers, and although he no longer wears Orange and Purple, he isn’t finished showcasing his skills on the court.
Following his first professional season with the Knicks, Simms signed with Paris Basketball of the Betclic Élite league, the top league in France, for the 2022-23 season. And he is finding success with the overseas team.
In 14 games this season, the 6-foot-8, 240-pound power forward is averaging 11.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. He is shooting 52.1% from the field and an impressive 45.2% from 3-point range.
After four impressive years as a Tiger, Simms declared for the 2021 NBA draft in hopes of making the jump to the next level.
Simms went undrafted and signed with the New York Knicks as a free agent but was waived after summer league play. However, the Clemson standout joined the G-League Westchester Knicks shortly after the brief bump in the road.
Although he is not playing in the NBA, Simms is making the most of his professional career across the Atlantic. He has played a significant role for his teams, proving to be a viable scoring option in the frontcourt. At just 23 years old, Simms still has plenty of time and opportunity to continue playing the sport he loves.
