It is definitely not a stretch to say that over the past few weeks all anyone seems to be talking about is Disney Plus (Disney+). With this service, not only do you have access to all of the Disney channel shows and movies as well as all of the Disney movies out of the vault, but you also have access to Pixar, Star Wars and Marvel films. You also have the option to buy a more expensive subscription which gives you access to Disney Plus, Hulu and ESPN Plus. Whether you are a Disney fanatic or not, the content available is very compelling. However, if you have other subscriptions that you are paying for monthly, such as Netflix or Amazon Prime, is it worth the extra money?
For someone who already pays for multiple subscriptions adding another one can be a strain financially. The average entertainment subscription can cost anywhere from seven dollars all the way to 20 or more a month which can add up extremely quick. There are also many shows and movies included in Disney Plus that can also be viewed within these other entertainment outlets. How can you really tell if it is worth the money to add Disney Plus to your collection of monthly subscriptions?
While there are some similarities between Disney Plus and other entertainment subscriptions, for the most part the cost efficiency leans more towards Disney Plus. For example, a large portion of the movies on Disney Plus can be found on Amazon Prime. However, if you want to view these movies on Amazon, then you have to either rent or buy them due to the fact that they are most likely not included within the Prime options.
The movies out of the vault and the older Disney Channel movies on Disney Plus are by far what makes the subscription well worth the money. The movies out of the vault are the older Disney movies, like Aladdin, that are very hard to find and almost impossible to buy. The older Disney Channel movies, such as The Lizzie McGuire Movie, are almost impossible to find anywhere as well. By purchasing a Disney Plus subscription, you have an all access pass to watch all of your favorite old Disney movies and all of the movies from Disney channel that you thought you may never see again.
Purchasing a Disney Plus subscription is like buying a one-way ticket to your childhood. Shows like Boy Meets World and movies like Hannah Montana: The Movie will make you feel as if you are right back in the simpler time that was your childhood. The price of the subscription may seem relatively cheap when you can binge watch all of the movies and shows that, at the time, seemed to shape your childhood and the world around you as a whole.
Overall, while the price of yet another subscription can seem like a pain, Disney Plus is definitely one that is well worth the extra money. Not only do you feel like a VIP getting access to movies and shows that otherwise you would not be able to access, but all of the entertainment that surrounded your childhood can yet again be your escape from the real world. Who can really put a price on something as great as that?
