What is Love language?
Love language is the way we receive affection from others. Everyone has their own way of expressing their appreciation, affection and admiration for one another. Understanding another’s love language shows that you care about the other person and that you want to express your love for them in a way that they like. Sometimes saying “I love you” does not cover the extent of how much you care about one another. There are five love languages: words of affirmation, quality time, acts of service, physical touch and receiving gifts. Some people can have more than one love language, but most have one that is more preferred than others.
Words of Affirmation:
People who prefer words of affirmation want positive verbal acknowledgement, such as encouragement, posting on social media, compliments, words of appreciation and frequent “I love yous.”
Gift ideas: This person would enjoy compliments, an appreciation post on social media (with their consent) or a nice phone call!
Quality Time:
When people prefer quality time, they want to receive one’s undivided attention, engage in meaningful conversation and have someone eager to hang out with them.
Gift ideas: This person would enjoy spending meaningful time with their loved ones. You can take this person out to dinner, go experience a drive-in movie theater or explore waterfalls around Clemson.
Acts of Service:
People who prefer acts of service believe “actions speak louder than words.” They value when others go out of their way to make their life easier.
Gift ideas: This person would enjoy someone doing their laundry, bringing them food or doing a chore for them that they have been dreading.
Physical Touch:
People who prefer to express their love through touch and nonverbal communication.

Receiving Gifts:
People who prefer to receive gifts that are thoughtful and meaningful to their relationship with their partner.
