Clemson Softball hosted their final game of the fall season with a double-header exhibition against University of North Georgia on Sunday, Oct. 24th. While the first game ended with a 5-8 loss, the Tigers bounced back to deliver a positive send-off.
The starting line-up of the second game featured sophomore pitcher Valerie Cagle. Freshman Brooke McCubbin came in to relieve Cagle in the sixth inning. Both pitchers let up only one hit and zero runs each for their time in the circle.
Clemson outfielder Marissa Guimbarda hit the first home run of the game in the second inning, later followed by a double-base hit in the sixth inning. Infielder Cammy Pereira hit the second and final home run in the fifth, while third and first base were occupied, allowing for three runs in one play.
Despite the setback from the first game of the day, the Tigers kept their spirits high. The team had nine base hits for the entirety of the game, compared to North Georgia’s two.
The final score to close out the season was 4-0 for the Tigers.
Unfortunately, fans will have to wait until Spring 2022 to see another softball game back at McWhorter Stadium. Tickets for the 2022 season go on sale next month.
