As you’re meeting new people in your residence halls and classes, an easy conversation starter will likely be: “How was quarantine for you?”
For Clemson University, quarantine meant planning. This careful planning helped develop a COVID-19 testing site, create isolation spaces and invest in online learning tools for the arrival of students in Fall 2020. This fall, luckily, with COVID-19 cases on a steady decline in the United States, we will return to a sense of normal this semester. Here is some information and regulations Clemson University will have in place regarding COVID-19:
-
Are masks required on campus? It depends. They are fully optional in university facilities and outdoor areas. However, in medical facilities such as the Redfern Center and the Sullivan Center, masks are required. Additionally, masks are required on public transportation such as TigerTransit and CATBus. Clemson does encourage students to wear masks in the classroom and labs.
-
Where is the COVID-19 testing site? Fike Recreation Center, located on Heisman St. near the intramural fields
-
What are the rules about COVID-19 testing? For fully vaccinated students, COVID-19 testing is not required. For not fully vaccinated students, COVID-19 testing is encouraged every 30 days. Vaccinated and unvaccinated students who display symptoms of COVID-19 are required to get tested.
-
Is the COVID-19 vaccine required? No, but Clemson encourages willing and able students to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
-
What does fully vaccinated mean? Individuals are considered fully vaccinated 14 days after their last vaccination dose of a two-dose vaccine (Moderna and Pfizer) or 14 days after one dose of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. Other COVID-19 vaccines approved by the World Health Organization will be accepted as well.
-
Do I need to prove I am fully vaccinated? No, submitting proof of vaccination is completely voluntary, but it helps Clemson understand our COVID-19 environment better. You can submit your proof of vaccination online using Clemson’s COVID-19 Voluntary Vaccine Upload Tool.
-
What happens if I am fully vaccinated but was in close contact with someone who tested positive? Get tested if you’re symptomatic. While it is not required to get tested for fully vaccinated students, taking the trek down to Littlejohn might help give you a peace of mind. Tests will still be free to students at any time.
