As holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas roll around there always seems to be the looming question of what type of weather the season will bring. More northern states will expect this time of year to bring about colder weather while more southern states know that for the most part, cold weather is honestly left up to chance. Whether you live in an area where colder weather is more frequent or you know that you could be potentially facing a warm Christmas, there is no doubt that during this time of year, cold weather reigns supreme.
Cold weather holidays bring about the chance to wear all of your favorite sweaters and warm holiday clothes. Getting to layer and bundle up in cozy sweaters and sweatshirts is much more comfortable than sweating through all of your clothes during the hotter times of the year. Colder weather is the perfect excuse to break out those Christmas sweaters, hats, and Ugg boots. While there are many who enjoy the fashion that comes along with warmer months, there is no doubt that just as many if not more get so much joy out of getting to put on a cozy sweater and a pair of festive socks during this time of the year.
With cold weather comes building fires, and with building fires comes everyone’s’ favorite activity of making S’mores! Colder holidays can be spent with family around a fire whether that may be inside or outside. As if sitting around a warm fire with those you love is not enticing enough, you can bust out those S’more making skills and enjoy a tasty treat as well. If you’re not a S’more person don’t worry. There are plenty of other yummy treats you can roast around a fire as well such as hotdogs and popcorn. This excitement that comes from building a fire is really only enjoyable during the cold weather holidays because let’s be honest…who wants to roast marshmallows in 80-degree weather??
The most appealing part to many about cold weather holidays is the chance of snow. If you live in a state where snow is heavy during these holidays you may dread the immense amount of snow that covers your lawn. However, if you live in a state where snow can only be described as a luxury, then this aspect of the colder holidays can be just as exciting as anything else. Just the mental image alone of a snowy Christmas is enough to get one in the holiday spirit. This time of the year is only made better with activities such as skiing, sledding and snowball fights. Whether you are sure that you will see snow during the holidays or you are still only holding out hope, there is no denying that a snowy Christmas has much more holiday appeal than a sunny one.
The holidays are a wonderful time of year filled with friends, family, great food and an overall atmosphere of excitement. All of this excitement is only made better with colder weather and all of the possibilities that this allots. However, whether you are one that enjoys the warmer holidays or you are one that absolutely loves the colder ones, your holidays will be special not because of the weather, but because of the atmosphere that you create!
