Someone from South Carolina just got really rich. And I mean really rich.
After Tuesday night’s record-breaking drawing for the 1.537 billion dollar Mega Million lottery; one lucky ticket from South Carolina won it all. While the winner is still anonymous, they could walk away with 878 million dollars if they opted for the one-time cash out method.
With the winning numbers being 5, 28, 62, 65 and 70 and the Mega Ball being 5, there were 36 other second place winners across the country. Surprisingly this lottery falls just short of breaking the overall US lottery record of 1.586 billion from January 2016, but still breaks the previous Mega Million record from March 2012 of 656 million.
Don’t throw your lottery tickets away just yet because the 620 million dollar Powerball drawing is set to be announced this Wednesday night.
