What has happened: Clemson held Georgia Southern’s rushing game, which was the 4th best in the country, to just 80 yards. Justyn Ross and Trevor Lawrence connected on a 57-yard touchdown as Clemson defeated the Eagles, 38-7. The game moved from a 3:30 kickoff to noon due to the impacts from Hurricane Florence over the weekend. The win improves Clemson’s record to 3-0.
Coming up: Clemson will head down I-85 to Atlanta this Saturday to face Georgia Tech. Kickoff is at 3:30 p.m.
VOLLEYBALL
What has happened: Clemson split the weekend down in New Orleans, LA., in the Sugar Bowl Classic. On Friday, Clemson defeated Villanova in four sets. In the game against Villanova, the Tigers were fueled by two late-set comebacks. In the next game, Clemson swept Little Rock in three3 sets. On Saturday, Clemson advanced to the championship game, but fell short against Tulane in five sets. Alyssa Deloney and Brooke Bailey were named to the all- tournament team.
Coming up: Clemson opens ACC play with two road matches this week. Clemson will face Boston College on Friday at 7 p.m. and Syracuse on Sunday at 1 p.m.
MEN’S SOCCER
What has happened: Clemson’s game against Syracuse, which was scheduled for this past Friday, has been postponed for Tuesday, Oct. 23 due to the impacts of Hurricane Florence.
Clemson currently sits at 3-2-1 overall and 0-1 in ACC play.
Coming up: Clemson will face Furman on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at Riggs Field and then will host Wake Forest on Friday at 8:00 p.m.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
What has happened: As with the men, the women’s game was impacted by Hurricane Florence as the game against Miami was played early in the afternoon on Friday, and it was a nailbiter. The Tigers prevailed 2-1 in overtime in their ACC opener. Scoring goals for the Tigers were Miranda Weslake and Mariana Speckmaier.
As of Friday’s match, Clemson sits at 6-3 overall and 1-0 in ACC play
Coming up: Clemson will host two ACC opponents this week. The first against Virginia on Thursday at 7 p.m. and then on Sunday against North Carolina at 1 p.m.
CROSS COUNTRY
What has happened: The 2018 NCAA Southeast Regional that was scheduled at Winthrop University in Rock Hill, SC this past weekend was cancelled due to the impacts of Hurricane Florence.
Instead, the Tigers headed to Nashville, Tennessee to compete in the Commodore Classic. Logan Morris finished fourth overall with a time of 17:29.4 in the women’s 4K race. On the men’s side, Cole Griffith finished 38th overall with a time of 26:10.9 on the 8K course.
Coming up: Clemson will head to South Bend, Indiana to compete in the Joe Piane Invitational on Friday, Sept. 28.
