Cheesy, predictable, and all things love. That pretty much sums up Hallmark movies, and Hallmark Christmas movies are no different (just add the image of pure white snow dusted evenly over every rooftop on the main street of a small town where Christmas lights outline every building, wreaths cover every window and carolers gather around the oversized Christmas tree in town square). If this doesn’t get you in your holiday feels, I’m going to assume you’re a scrooge and suggest you reevaluate your holiday cheer.
Hallmark Christmasmovies might have the same plot, but that just means every movie will spark the same feelings of peace, love and Christmas spirit. While these probably won’t become your all-time favorite movies, they will find a special place in the heart of any Christmas-lover. There is just something about being able to put on a Christmas movie and letting it play in the background while you wrap presents, decorate the tree or do something totally non-Christmas-related, such as complete a school assignment or make dinner. You don’t have to be glued to the TV to understand every little detail, but you’re still getting some cheerful, holiday entertainment.
Another thing that is great about these types of movies is that they ALWAYS have a happy ending. No need to stress about a depressing ending or some big plot twist—they always fall in love and it’s always the best Christmas ever. The best part? They’re always on this time of year, so get Christmassy whenever you want. Now that you get the beauty of Hallmark movies, let’s see what you should be on the lookout for. According to this year’s report from “Thrillest Entertainment,” the top five Hallmark movies are:
“Northpole” (2014)
A love story (always) and a story about the power of teamwork and Christmas cheer as the North Pole runs out of magic energy.
“The Christmas Train” (2017)
A journalist fulfills his promise to his deceased father and takes a train across the country, writing about his adventures. He reconnects with a past girlfriend on the way.
“Meet the Santas” (2005)
Nick Claus is engaged and tries to impress his future in-laws, while working to keep them from finding out about his true occupation as Santa.
“A Royal Christmas” (2014)
A girl finds out her boyfriend is a prince and wants to convince the stubborn queen that she is meant for her son.
“Let It Snow” (2013)
The main character hates Christmas and is preoccupied with work and impressing her narrow-minded boss. However, a Christmas tree lighting, a winter romance and some other holiday festivities change her outlook.
