Clemson has undertaken many construction projects over the last few years. Here are the most recent updates with some of the most significant projects:
Library Bridge and Watt Lawn
After two years, Library Bridge is open again, with Daniel Hall and Humanities Hall construction wrapping up and returning a straight path from the library to the east side of campus. There is also a new outdoor study area with views of the reflection pond, Cooper Library and Tillman Hall. Watt Lawn is open as well with new landscaping.
Holtzendorff Hall
Construction behind Holtzendorff Hall to improve disability access has also finished, returning the shorter route between the west campus and downtown.
Visitors and Alumni Center
Construction has also started on the new Alumni and Visitors Center down by the Madren Center, leading to the partial closure of the southern Dike. The northern end of the Dikes by the rowing docks appears to be open, with a sign announcing the closure of the southern end.
Perimeter Road
Perimeter Road is still under construction, but work has begun to make the old road bed match the newly constructed portion. The intersections with C-1 and Newman Road are fully open, but visitors to the Botanical Garden or Lightsey Bridge cannot make left turns onto Perimeter Road.
Williamson Road realignment
The new Williamson Road and the employee parking lots behind Lee Hall are open. There is also a new employee lot on the far side of the road, and the old road bed has been converted to parking as a part of C-2. C-3, also known as Lot 5, is now open to commuters with the new Tiger Walk sidewalk.
Memorial Stadium
Renovations at Memorial Stadium were recently completed earlier this month. The renovations include a brand new sidewalk, as well as a new home locker room.
The planned terraces for The Hill in Memorial Stadium will not be installed for this season, leaving the traditional feel one more time.
Advanced Materials Innovations Complex
Construction has also started on the Advanced Materials Innovation Complex behind Sirrine Hall on top of the employee parking lot.
Bus and Tiger Transit stops
Several new bus stops were built over the summer, with improvements to the one below the Strom Thurmond Institute and new ones made at the intersection of Cherry Road and Old Greenville Highway.
Suber Dam
Landscaping is still being worked on for the new Suber Dam stormwater ponds, but most of the earthwork appears to have been completed.
Brynes Hall
Renovations to Byrnes Hall have started, with a staging yard taking down the large pine grove by the High Rises. However, access to Bryan Mall remains open.
Lightsey Bridge parking lot and P-5
Work is ongoing for the new Lightsey Bridge parking lot and the expansion to the P-5 Park-N-Ride lot.
Green Crescent Trail to Clemson Park
The city is also working on some projects, with the new Green Crescent trail to Clemson Park in the final phases of construction and a new sidewalk on Calhoun Street mostly complete.
