Sometimes being a college student can be difficult. Managing your time, balancing a social life with academics, coordinating getting to campus when the bus pulls up and swearing that next week is when you finally get organized, all while trying to maintain your sanity. Well, don’t worry, because luckily for us, there are so many apps out there to make our lives a little easier.
Want to find out immediately when that class you need opens up?
Get Coursicle — Registration can be a really stressful time for students, especially when everyone is racing to get into that one class, just for it to be full within 30 seconds of registration opening. The good news is that students drop and add courses constantly as the semester begins, but how do you know when those students drop those courses, and a seat opens up? Well, with this app you can get immediate notifications when a course opens up. All you have to do is add the course in the app that you want to track and wait for seats to open. No more stress of constantly logging into iRoar to check up on courses.
Want to start organizing your time better?
Get TimeTree — This handy calendar app is perfect for anyone out there who has trouble remembering important dates and arranging their schedule. With this app, you can create separate calendars, to-do lists, memos and really get organized! You can even share calendars with roommates, classmates and friends and finally find out when your schedules align! If you love labels and color coding, this is the app for you! It truly is an easy and creative way to manage time.
Get Todoist — So, maybe maintaining a full calendar is a bit too much for you, and that’s okay! If this is the case, I highly suggest taking things day by day with this useful app. Todoist is really useful for organizing everything you will do in your day, from what time you’ll wake up to when you’ll go to the library to study. This is a great app to keep yourself on track, especially if you tend to procrastinate on tasks.
Trying to catch the bus or find your way around Clemson?
Get TransLoc — With this app, finally, you can track every bus around Clemson University. Debating on if you should ride the bus or walk to get to class on time? This app will help you make that decision. TransLoc shows active bus routes within 2 miles and gives you a live view of the buses on that route, as well as a predicted time stamp for when it will arrive at your stop. That’s right, a LIVE bus tracking system. This is perfect for the Blue Route, Purple Route, Orange Route and every other bus route around campus.
Get my.Clemson — If you’re a Clemson student and don’t have this app yet, get it. This app has everything you will ever need as a student, including access to your CUID, dining halls information, the latest Clemson University news, medical facilities on campus with links and contacts, links to the academic calendar, the exam schedule and even PAL session links.
I’ve included this app under this category for its map feature. This app will show you an entire map of the University’s campus with categories to find anywhere you need to go. This app also includes transit information and shows you the bus routes for all routes in progress. I would recommend this app to anyone who goes to Clemson.
Looking for ways to unwind and prioritize your mental health?
Get Recolor — If you’re a creative person and just need a break from studying, this app is a perfect way to clear your mind. This therapeutic app allows you to bring a coloring book on the go and truly relax wherever you are. You can color by simply choosing a palette and tapping the areas you want to color, or if you like to get really creative, you can choose the crayon option where you can physically color your screen. This app is a great way to take a break from the stresses of college and life in general.
Get Gratitude-Happiness Journal — If you’re looking for an app where you can safely reflect on your day or work through anything that you may be struggling with, this may be a great option for you. This app gives you the ability to write daily journals to express your struggles or successes. Writing about what you’re grateful for or reading daily affirmations can change your way of thinking to become more positive overall. You can also set goals and create vision boards for those goals to encourage yourself. This is a great app for improving mental health.
Want to be safer around campus?
Get Noonlight — This app is very useful for those emergency situations when you may need to find help in a silent way. With this app you can hold a button when you feel unsafe and, when you release it, emergency services will be sent to your location. You can also enter a pin if it is a false alarm and you are safe. This app is great for those who may have to walk around campus, or really anywhere alone, and could save your life if you find yourself in a bad situation. With this app you can also add a safety network and send information about your whereabouts to those you trust in case something were to go wrong.
Get Life360 — This app is a great one to get with your roommates, or a close circle of friends you trust. This app allows you to see the location of those you are in a circle with at any time. You can also name locations, get notifications for arrivals and departures at locations, as well as be notified about possible car accidents.
Searching for ways to make studying easier?
Get Quizlet — Of course, almost every student has probably used, or at least has heard of this classic platform. Still, it’s going to be included in this list because this app is perfect for studying and creating good studying habits. Create your own study sets, or even use the study sets created by others to learn material. You can take practice tests using these sets, play repetition and memory games and even turn sets into flashcards to learn the information.
Get Socratic — This app gives you the ability to easily look up questions or terms right out of a textbook. It’s almost like a Google search, but all you need to do is take a picture of the text you want to look up and then the app processes that image into text. This app provides a faster and easier way to find answers to any questions you may have, without the hassle of typing into a search bar.
