Following Clemson football’s loss to Florida State on Saturday, Sarah Pepe, senior reporter for The Tiger, asked Clemson students their postgame thoughts.
Sarah Pepe (SP): How do you feel after watching the game, and what are your thoughts on how the team looked?
Alex Goldsholl, sophomore finance major: “I think we should have run the ball on third down in overtime. We missed a kick, strip sack — stupid score for FSU. A lot of things really didn’t go our way, and it stinks, but we should have ran the ball on third downs more.”
Madison Mummert, senior biological sciences major: “I feel like ever since the Duke game, the offensive plays have been terrible. They were putting up a good fight, and they were honestly doing really good. I thought they were going to pull it out, but towards the end, the offense was slowly falling. I think that they get really anxious in high-stress situations, and that is why they lose it and fail towards the end.”
Jeffery Ferguson, junior psychology major: “Here are my thoughts on the game. I came into the game honestly thinking FSU was going to whoop our tail, not going to lie. But then Clemson surprised me, and they were doing absolutely amazing. But lowkey, we choked. We really choked at the end. We could have had a field goal, a stop and a win, but that did not happen, unfortunately. It sucks, but there is always next year.”
Lillie Hendry, junior marketing major: “I was really disappointed in the game. I thought that there were so many different solutions that we could have utilized in order to win. There were different ways we could have resolved the main issues. I felt like we had the chance to win that game easily. I am just hoping that Dabo can take into consideration and use the transfer portal in the future as well as use other different assets he doesn’t use now.”
Clemson (2-2, 0-2 ACC) next will travel to upstate New York to play Syracuse this Saturday.
