“Speak Up!” is a weekly collection of student opinions on relevant topics around campus. The Tiger interviews randomly selected students to hear their thoughts on the question at hand.
This week, reporters went to the center of campus, Library Bridge, to hear student opinions.
This time, The Tiger asked: “Do you feel that exams offer an accurate portrayal of you as a student?”
Here’s what students had to say about it:
“Sometimes. I mean, I feel like I am just good at taking tests. I study a lot. I try hard. I feel like if you put in the work (they are).” — Grace Della Porta, a sophomore biological sciences major.
“I think it depends on the exam format. Free response, yes. Multiple choice, no. Sometimes those questions are written terribly.” — Riley Murphy, a junior genetics major.
“I would say that they do not give a complete picture. It shows a lot of how hard working you are, but it should be mixed with projects and essays where you can really let your creative side happen too.” — Christopher Iori, a sophomore computer engineering major.
“Only me as a student. There are plenty of times that I could see that not being the case.” — Jackson McMillon, a freshman general engineering major.
