Hi everyone! At The Tiger, April always signifies a transition period as we move from our spring leadership to our newly elected fall leadership. I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as I officially step into the role of Editor-in-Chief.
I joined The Tiger in the second week of the fall 2022 semester, my freshman year, as part of the Copy desk. Even before I came to campus, I knew I wanted to be a part of this incredible organization, and I made it my priority to join as soon as possible. The moment I walked into our office, I knew I had found my spot on campus to leave a mark here.
Though I got thrown into the deep end rather quickly — being the only copy editor for over a semester — the love and passion I immediately gained for this newspaper propelled me to do all that I could.
These past 3 ½ semesters have been filled with late nights, hundreds of articles edited and countless opportunities for me to grow, both as an editor and a writer. During this time, I have gained so much from my experience on The Tiger, and I cannot wait to provide the same chances to other students.
I can say with complete confidence that The Tiger has been the best part of my college experience thus far, and I am honored that this organization has entrusted me to continue and build our incredible legacy. During my term, I hope to maintain the standard of excellence that was set before me, and I will strive to better myself and the organization in all possible ways.
I cannot wait to see what the future holds for this talented group of students, and I look forward to leading South Carolina’s oldest college newspaper in the upcoming semester.
