There is no better feeling than the excitement of prepping for your first year of college. All of the new opportunities you will have and the new friends you will make are waiting for you.
But as excited as I was, I remember how scary it felt to move to an area I was completely unfamiliar with. Luckily for you, I have the perfect bucket list to help you make the most out of your first year at Clemson!
Attend Tiger Prowl
Tiger Prowl is an on-campus event where almost every club and student organization will have a booth with members present to share information. There is something for everyone! You can walk around the stadium and receive information about any organization that may interest you. This is the best way to get connected right away!
Attend a Clemson football game
Whether you are a football fan or not, the atmosphere during a home game in Death Valley is an electric experience every student should have!
Study with a group of friends at Cooper Library
Even if you get your best work done alone, spending time with your friends in the library is a staple part of the college experience. I will never forget the late nights spent on the fifth floor of the library surrounded by Starbucks coffee cups.
Watch a sunset at the Dikes
Picture this: a nice breeze and a beautiful sunset while sitting with your best friends. The Dikes are the perfect spot to watch the sunset with a huge open view of the lake.
Eat ice cream at ‘55 Exchange
Did you know that Clemson makes its own ice cream and other dairy products? In the Hendrix Student Center, ‘55 Exchange serves numerous different flavors of ice cream coming from the dairy cows at Clemson.
Join a club or student organization
One of the best ways to make friends and meet new people is to join a student organization. Some of the best opportunities that I have had at Clemson have stemmed from clubs!
Spend a day at the Snow Family Outdoor Fitness and Wellness Complex
Right off campus sits Snow Family Outdoor Fitness and Wellness Complex, home to Y Beach! Here, you can find a sandy beach with lake access, a volleyball net and water equipment like canoes and kayaks available to rent.
Play a game on Bowman Field
On the big open field next to Tillman Hall, you will almost always see a group of students playing spike ball, volleyball, soccer or even just reading and chatting with friends. Some of my best memories of freshman year took place right on Bowman Field.
Attend Tigerama
Tigerama starts on the Friday night of Homecoming weekend. Here you will find performances from the Clemson Rally Cats, Tiger Band, Clemson Football and many student organizations. Clemson Miss Homecoming is crowned at Tigerama, and to conclude the night, a fan-favorite concert is held with popular artists performing. Last year’s guest was Waka Flocka Flame!
Participate in ‘Solid Orange Friday’
“Solid Orange Friday” entails wearing orange the Friday before a football game and is one of the best of Clemson’s many traditions. There is no better feeling than walking through campus on the final day of class for the week and seeing everyone decked out in orange, excited for the weekend.
