On Saturday, No. 15 Clemson defeated Stanford 40-14 in Death Valley. This marked the first time these two teams have met since the 1986 Gator Bowl.
Following Dabo Swinney’s record-setting 173rd ACC victory, The Tiger sat down with Clemson students to hear their thoughts on how the game went.
Since the last time Clemson and Stanford faced off was in the 1986 Gator Bowl, how exciting was the game, and how did Clemson look?
The game was so exciting, and I thought Clemson looked great. Night games in Death Valley are always the best, but this one was extra exciting.
Clemson looked put together, and Cade seemed to have great confidence and momentum. The fans had so much energy, and it was awesome to see the stands still packed until the end.
I think being that this was the first time these two teams played in so long made it even more exciting to watch and I am so glad Clemson came out on top.

What was the environment in Memorial Stadium?
The atmosphere in Death Valley was electric. We’ve done so well in the two games leading up to this one, and it was great to see that energy continue. Night games are always awesome and the fans were so excited by the performance from the team.
The entire stadium was bright, loud and exciting. As it’s my senior year at Clemson, I’ve been taking in every moment being in the student section at the games, and it is something I will always remember.
I have some of my best Clemson memories from being at the games as a student, and I am adding this one to the list!

What players stood out against Stanford, and how did they play as a whole?
I really was impressed with the play we got out of our secondary, particularly picks in the red zone by Avieon Terrell and Jeadyn Lukus. Stanford had early success moving the ball on our defense, but those interceptions by both those guys prevented the Cardinal from getting any points on the board.
And obviously, Cade Klubnik looked great. He’s playing at an extremely high level right now; he did a great job last night of distributing the ball to the entire offense, getting Williams, Wesco, and Brinningstool involved, to name just a few.
That’s what great quarterbacks do, so I’ve really liked what I’ve seen from him. Not to mention what Klubnik has been able to do running the ball, with two huge rushing TDs the past two games.
