The NFL season is already four weeks underway, and numerous former Clemson Tigers have hit their stride over the past two weeks. Here are four alumni at the next level who have been showing out recently:
Nate Wiggins, Cornerback | Baltimore Ravens
Rookie Nate Wiggins has taken the NFL by storm. Over the past fortnight, he’s started to prove why he was Balitmore’s first selection in the draft and has helped the Ravens bounce back from a rough start to a two-game win streak.
In a 28-25 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3, Wiggins had a breakout performance as he racked up two tackles and made a timely forced fumble that helped Baltimore outlast Dallas’ 19-point fourth-quarter rally.
The following week, the young cornerback had another excellent performance: he recorded two tackles, 0.5 stuffs and a pass deflection. He played 33 coverage snaps and allowed just five receiving yards and a passer rating of 56.3.
Baylon Spector, Linebacker | Buffalo Bills
The former Tiger and 2022 seventh-round pick has turned many Bills fans’ heads since having to step up into the starting middle linebacker role in place of Terrel Bernard due to injury.
In just the past two games, Spector has totaled 12 tackles, the same number he had his first two years in the NFL.
He also had an impressive showing against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 4, recording six tackles, one sack, one stuff and a fumble recovery in the Bills short-fallen attempt at a comeback win.
Dexter Lawrence, Defensive Tackle | New York Giants
Former ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year Dexter Lawrence has continued to show why he earned second-team All-Pro the past two seasons, as he’s still a brute force for opposing offensive linemen.
He’s totaled five tackles and two sacks in the past two weeks. Going into Week 4, Lawrence had 10 pressures (fourth in the NFL), nine hurries (T-1st in the NFL) and the best pass-rush win rate of all interior defensive linemen.
Christian Wilkins, Defensive Tackle | Las Vegas Raiders
After receiving a four-year, $110 million contract over this past off-season, the former Tiger has been living up to his pay grade since coming from the Miami Dolphins.
In a 36-22 loss versus the Carolina Panthers, Wilkins held his own in the trenches with two tackles and half a sack.
He followed up the next performance with a similar stat line, recording a tackle and half a sack in a 20-16 win over the Cleveland Browns.
