Clemson Community Hub hosted a farmers market at the Douthit Hills front lawn on Oct. 9, complete with samples for students to try as well as local hand-picked and homemade goods for purchase.
Duck Donuts gave out different flavors of free donuts. The Community Hub had a free trail mix bar that allowed students and faculty to create the perfect mix. They also had free samples of bacon-wrapped brisket and butternut squash soup for students to sample, as well as free hot chocolate.
The Common Market also gave out free samples, including pork belly with jalapeno jam and grits. However, students were immediately attracted to the baby cows from Hickory Hill Milk. Students could pet and feed the cows with a bottle of milk.
In addition to their free offerings, the Community Hub had fresh local products for sale, allowing students and faculty to purchase goods from local farmers. Small and large pumpkins were also for sale, getting everyone into the fall spirit. Students taking a study break could recharge with coffee from Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee Truck.
The farmers market not only gave students a break from midterms but also provided students and faculty an opportunity to purchase and learn about all of the local goods produced in and around Clemson.
