Clemson United will face off against the Wofford Terriers at 7 p.m. at The Historic Riggs Field on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
Clemson (10-2-2) enters the matchup riding a five-game winning streak, with its most recent loss coming over a month ago on Sept. 27. Wofford (6-5-2) has not had the most productive October, going 3-3-1 this month. Their losses came at the hands of East Tennessee State, Longwood and Furman, and they failed to tally a single goal in any of the three matchups.
Clemson continues to be led by its strong core. Senior midfielder Joran Gerbet leads the Tigers offensively, tallying four goals and eight assists this season. Gerbet is complemented by junior midfielder Misei Yoshizawa, who has four goals and one assist on the year, and graduate Alex Meinhard, who secured a hat trick against Syracuse.
Defensively, Clemson has been a brick wall, allowing just seven goals in October.
Wofford has struggled offensively, totaling just eleven goals as a team this season. Three players — Thaddeus Dennis, Magnus Kjoller and Declan Mettee — lead the team with two goals apiece. Defensively, however, Wofford has been efficient, allowing thirteen goals through thirteen games.
Clemson enters the matchup against their in-state opponent as the favorites after an impressive performance throughout October. Wofford will make it challenging for Clemson United; with a strong defense, the Terriers hope to stay in this game by limiting the Clemson offense and sneaking in a goal or two. Clemson will need to play a solid game to outlast Wofford.
