Clemson University’s Delta Chi fraternity is on disciplinary probation through December 2025 for violating the University’s alcohol policy during a “Wine Mixer” event on Sept. 19.
During the event, new members and guests under the legal drinking age were allowed to “access and consume an assortment of boxed wine,” according to the incident report by the University’s Office of Community and Ethical Standards.
OCES launched an investigation into the matter and found substantial evidence that Delta Chi had violated the University’s alcohol policy with the event.
The event was not registered with the University. It was hosted at the off-campus Delta Chi fraternity house, which “is around 8 minutes from campus with the capacity to house 32 brothers,” according to the Clemson IFC website.
Delta Chi is on full social probation until Dec. 31 of this year.
If the fraternity respects OCES sanctions, they will be allowed one registered, social and dry event in both January and February. Both events must be registered with Delta Chi Headquarters, IFC and OCES.
If they continue to comply, Delta Chi may hold one 90-minute social event without restriction after March 24. This event must align with University policy, local law, Delta Chi Headquarters, IFC social operations and must be registered with Delta Chi Headquarters, IFC and OCES.
Delta Chi must then inform Delta Chi Headquarters and OCES of the next two fraternity events after March 24.OCES also required Delta Chi to “comply with all education sanctions prescribed by Delta Chi Headquarters,” according to the incident report.
Delta Chi did not respond to The Tiger’s request for comment by publication.

None of this will stop any fraternity from consuming alcoholic beverages. Show me where this has been effective as a social control device? It all sounds good, but has no impact. Why don’t you take this seriously and close the place down if they won’t obey to the rules.
