The Clemson women’s lacrosse team has unveiled its 2025 season schedule, highlighted by several high-stakes ACC matchups. The Tigers, now in their third season, ended their previous season with an overall record of 11-7 and a conference record of 4-6 after being ousted in the ACC Championship quarterfinals by Notre Dame.
Clemson is slated to play 17 games, with 10 being at home in the regular season. The Tigers will begin their season on the road against Davidson on Saturday, Feb. 8. Despite opening its season on the road, Clemson is familiar with the Wildcats, defeating the team 19-10 in last season’s opener.
Attacker Regan Byrne led the Tigers in the game with six goals, and she is returning to Clemson for her sophomore season. Byrne was Clemson’s second-leading scorer in the 2024 season as a true freshman.
The Wildcats are not the only common opponent for the Tigers this season. Clemson will face Notre Dame, Syracuse, Queens, Duke, Mercer, North Carolina, Louisville, Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh. In its previous seasons, Clemson has faced all these teams. In those games, Clemson won 7 and lost 5, facing both Notre Dame and Pittsburgh in the ACC Championships.
In its third season, Clemson has gained familiarity with women’s college lacrosse, not only with opposing teams but also with its team. Clemson is returning 19 players from last season in various position groups.
Clemson head coach Allison Kwolek is returning for her third season with the team. In her tenure with the Tigers, Kwolek is 23-13 overall and 7-13 in conference play. Before Clemson, Kwolek was the head coach at the University of Richmond, where she had a 64-16 record. In her time with Richmond, Kwolek helped lead the team to two conference tournaments and two regular season championships.
According to Inside Lacrosse, Kwolek and the Tigers also had a successful offseason, picking up several recruits that the team hopes will provide immediate impact. Five-star recruit Maddie Wrenn is a name to know from this group, which included four freshmen named to the Inside Lacrosse Power 100 Ranking. Wrenn finished in the top 20 and was the only defender who was a part of Clemson’s most recent class of freshmen.
Another five star, Kira Balis, was ranked as the No. 22 player from the group. The midfielder will look to help the young program get to the top of the ACC. Attacker Brooke Goldstein and midfielder Susan Lowther rounded out the freshmen who were included in the ranking.
With a star-studded team of both experienced and young players, the Tigers look ahead to what could be their best season since their formation. It only means that the games at the Clemson Lacrosse Complex are about to get bigger.
