A nine-year-old girl has been found after being kidnapped by her uncle in Salem, South Carolina, in the early morning of Jan. 19.
Braelynn Ann Blaire was taken from her home in Oconee County by 28-year-old Zackery Steven Cosgrove. Cosgrove stole a 2019 Nissan Rogue and tried to leave the county with his niece, according to 7 News.
An Amber Alert was sent out in Oconee County around 5 a.m. on the morning of Jan. 19 with the message, “Oconee County, SC AMBER Alert: NC RHZ8259, 2019 Black Nissan Rogue.”
Cosgrove and Blaire were found in Edgefield County less than an hour later, according to WSNW Radio.
Cosgrove is currently detained in the Oconee County Detention Center, where he has been denied bond by a judge, according to WYFF 4. He has been accused of kidnapping and grand larceny.
At a later, currently undetermined date, Cosgrove will appear before a circuit court judge, according to a news release from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office.
Blaire has since been reunited with her family.
