Following an electric rivalry win to round out last season, the Clemson men’s club lacrosse team is ready to begin its spring season with a revamped lineup.
Clemson men’s club lacrosse will open its season on Feb. 1 against Auburn. The game will be the first of 14 opponents in the Tigers’ schedule across the Atlantic Lacrosse Conference and the SEC.
Last year, Clemson finished with a 6-8 record under head coach Andrew Tobias, but this season may bring something different. The Tigers enter the season projected to finish fourth out of 12 ALC teams, and with a mix of returners and newcomers, the team has the talent for success both locally and nationally.
The roster features several returning standouts, including preseason ALC Player Watchlist nominee Holden Morrison. Morrison, a sophomore attackman, was awarded ALC Freshman of the Year last season after averaging nearly three goals per game and finishing with a team-high of 39 goals.
Along with its returning talent, the team added a variety of newcomers, including Jack Wunder, Tyler Superczynski and Trevor Buffone.
As the team gears up to begin its season, defenseman Luke Romano sat down with The Tiger to share his goals and expectations for the upcoming season. Clemson aims to “win the state” and defeat all South Carolina opponents. The team also wants to win the Atlantic Lacrosse Conference and make it to Round Rock, Texas, for the national championship.
Spectators are always welcome to watch the Tigers on LoConte Field at Snow Family Outdoor Fitness and Wellness Complex for their home games on Feb. 1-2 and 8-9 and April 5-6.
