After a long week of classes, most college students just want to let loose, especially when exams roll around. Once the weekend starts, many students head to Clemson’s beautiful downtown area to enjoy their break, whether it’s going to the bars to drink casually or having a fun night out with their friends.
If you’ve ever stumbled out of a place like Study Hall or Backstreets during a night out, you know that there’s one place guaranteed to satisfy those late-night food cravings: Cook Out.
For Clemson students, Cook Out isn’t just a casual grub spot, it’s more of a drunk tradition, especially for the Northerners who don’t have the fast food spot back home.
Now, the word is officially out — Cook Out has been named the Best Drunk Food in Tigertown, and honestly, are we surprised?
“I’m definitely not surprised how it won the award,” Nathan Durkin, a sophomore psychology major, told The Tiger. “I make the trip there super often just because it’s so cheap and filling, especially the Cook Out trays.”
The menu is practically a cheat code for hunger after hours — consisting of a wide variety of items such as burgers, hot dogs, cheese fries, walking tacos, milkshakes and so much more. Every item feels like it’s been made to satisfy any post-party appetite.
But at the end of the day, it doesn’t just come down to the food at Cook Out. It’s about the atmosphere that you’re met with. You see your friends in line with the exact same plan as you and feel comforted knowing that you’re about to enjoy — and destroy — your meal.
After all, when you have access to everything from burgers to milkshakes, what is there not to love?
