Located in the heart of downtown Clemson, Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream has become a staple within the community despite being open for less than a year. It’s clear locals have embraced the new ice cream shop because it took home the title of Clemson’s Best Ice Cream this year.

The ice cream shop quickly gained a loyal following, offering a variety of more than 45 handmade flavors. Each morning, the flavors are handcrafted with numerous toppings to satisfy any taste palate.

One key feature that sets Handel’s apart is its commitment to freshness and high-quality ingredients. The parlor frequently introduces new and seasonal flavors, including vegan and sorbet options, catering to a range of preferences.

Popular flavors include “Ooohh…Dough!,” which combines creamy vanilla ice cream with Oreo cookie pieces and chocolate chip cookie dough, and “Monkey Business,” a banana batter ice cream swirled with caramel and mixed with brownie pieces.

Handel’s focuses on more than just serving ice cream. The Belcher family, which operates the Clemson location, emphasizes creating a welcoming atmosphere.

“Our goal is to serve the very best ice cream in the world and to do it in an environment that is conducive to community and celebration,” the owner told The Tiger.

The shop has quickly become a social hub for students and residents. Whether it’s someone’s birthday, a team celebration or a casual outing, Handel’s has established itself as a go-to spot for spending time with family and friends.

“We love it when people celebrate after practice or after a win. It’s really special,” the Belcher family said.
