If you’re looking for a new sport to watch, I highly recommend Formula One. F1 is a rapidly growing global sport, shaping up for one of its best seasons in 2025. It’s worth checking out — even if you’re not into motorsports or sports in general.
If you’re not too sure what F1 is, then here’s what you need to know:
F1 has the quickest racing in the world, the best drivers in the world and top speeds upward of 200 mph.
There are 10 teams with two drivers each, totaling 20 competitors on the track. Each team has the same budget for engineering their car for the season while adhering to the same rules or formula, hence the name Formula One.
The 2025 season features 24 Grand Prix weekends across 21 countries on five continents from March to December.
Compared to other motorsports, it’s easy to follow the news and development of the teams and drivers. The drivers themselves are entertaining, and it’s fun to keep up with your favorite drivers. It’s also widely accessible on most live TV services.
If you’re still unsure about F1, a good way to get into the sport is by watching Netflix’s “Formula 1: Drive to Survive” series, which chronicles the storylines and drama in the sport through each season.
It’s easy and accessible to watch, as you don’t need much prior knowledge about F1 to enjoy it. I recommend watching the new season of the docuseries that was released March 7, which depicts the 2024 season.
In addition to “Drive to Survive,” Brad Pitt’s “F1” movie will be released in theaters on June 27, so there’s a lot to look forward to for the F1 community.
Considering how last year’s season ended, with close championship battles and on-track racing, the 2025 season should be one of the best and most competitive seasons ever. The first race of the 2025 season is on March 16 in Australia.
F1 is easy to get into and appreciate on many levels, from the races and the cars to the drivers and the sport’s rich history. Even if you’re not into motorsport, I’m still confident you will enjoy Formula One.
