Hello everyone, and welcome to Clemson!
My name is Griffin Barfield, and I am beginning my final semester at Clemson University, which I cannot believe. With that, and thinking about everything that I have done so far at this University, the sky’s the limit for what you can do in Tigertown.
As cliché as it is for a sports editor to say, attend a Clemson sporting event. Whether you’re an avid sports fan or not, it is a great way to meet others, learn more about the campus around you and truly feel the energy in each game.
Next, get involved! It’s so easy to join a club, and there’s something for everyone. Meeting people with the same interests in a big school can be tricky at times, but joining an organization makes it much easier to find that group you’ve been looking for. For me, it was The Tiger, which helped me make some of the greatest friendships that I could ever ask for.
Never be afraid to ask for help, either. College is about figuring it out, and you’re with thousands of other people in the same boat. Everybody is in it together, so have patience with each other and don’t be scared to ask for a favor if you need it.
You may hear the phrase “there’s something in these hills,” which is the best statement to describe this place. When you become a senior who is thinking about graduation, you’ll understand what I mean.
Don’t rush that moment, though. Enjoy every day you can here at Clemson and take advantage of everything you’re given. The time from moving into your dorm to walking across the graduation floor and accepting your diploma goes fast, so make sure you treasure your time here. Clemson is an incredible place, and I want you to have the best years of your life here, like I have with mine.
