At around 8:30 yesterday morning, emergency services responded to a plane crash near Seneca Creek Meadow, between Clemson University’s campus and the Oconee County Regional Airport.
The plane was a single aircraft, and the pilot sustained minor injuries, according to a statement from Clemson University Public Safety.
Clemson University Police Department reported that the plane crashed when the pilot attempted to make an emergency landing after experiencing engine failure.
A traffic signal on Highway 93 and Seneca Creek Rd., as well as several powerlines, were damaged from the crash. CUPD redirected traffic as needed until the traffic light’s power was restored at around 10:40 a.m. yesterday.
The identity of the pilot, as well as further details of the crash and aircraft, have not been released.
