The ACC announced Tuesday that Clemson men’s soccer midfielder Ransford Gyan was named ACC Offensive Player of the Week for matches played from Aug. 25-31.
The honor is Gyan’s first, but it is not the first time the league has recognized his performance on the pitch.
During the 2024 season Gyan was named the ACC Freshman of the Year and part of the Second Team All-ACC. His outings in the opening three games of the season have only continued to improve since then.
In last Tuesday’s home opener against South Carolina, Gyan scored the opening goal in the team’s 4-1 victory, his second goal of the season. The scoring only continued in Friday’s matchup against the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Gyan earned his first brace as a Tiger in the 6-0 victory over the UAB Blazers, while also tallying an assist to Olafur Floki Stephensen in the first half.
After scoring five goals in the 2024 season, Gyan is just one goal shy of equaling his career high mark after only three games. He also leads Clemson with four of the team’s 12 goals this season.
Ransford will look to maintain his red-hot form this Friday as the Tigers take on Pitt in their first ACC matchup of the season at 6 p.m. at Historic Riggs Field.
