Kickin Coop and Jojo’s Fish House will replace Palmetto’s Smokehouse and Oyster Bar next to TD’s of Clemson, bringing signature dishes from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, to Clemson.
“I really loved the ribs from Palmettos Smokehouse and Oyster Bar, the restaurant prior, so I’m looking forward to see how these new restaurants compare,” Emily Chipolone, a sophomore accounting major, told The Tiger in an interview.
With over 20 sauces to choose from, Kickin Coop’s menu features an assortment of bone-in wings, fried and grilled tenders and more. Its specials include the Kickin Coop sandwich, which consists of fried chicken, Cajun ranch, pickles and Kickin Sassy fries — fries topped with fried tenders, alongside the customer’s choice of sauce and cheese.
Each Thursday, chicken tenders will be half price all day, accompanied by a housemade sauce. Additionally, Kickin Coop offers late-night specials Sunday through Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday to Saturday from 8 to 11 p.m., similar to their Tennessee location.
Beyond Kickin Coop’s main dishes, the restaurant also offers signature sides, including potato salad, macaroni and cheese and green beans. Its menu highlights dessert options like chess squares, banana pudding and Jazzy cupcakes.
Kickin Coop has a 4.3-star Google rating and has been recognized for premium food and quality service.
Jojo’s Fish House, on the other hand, has a menu that highlights Southern-style specialities like whiting, catfish and tilapia. The restaurant offers seafood dishes such as a catfish sandwich, red snapper, baskets of catfish strips and an assortment of jumbo shrimp.
Beyond the new location in downtown Clemson, Jojo’s Fish House is also expanding business to Nashville, Tennessee, in a food truck.
“I love going out to eat with my friends and I am looking forward to trying these new restaurants’ food when they open in Clemson,” Riley Morgan, a sophomore mathematical sciences major, told The Tiger in an interview upon hearing about the opening of the new restaurants.
The official date for the openings of the restaurants has yet to be announced.
