The Clemson baseball team was unable to escape South Bend with a win, getting swept by No. 13 Notre Dame in the three-game weekend series.
The Tigers were bested 4-1 in Friday’s game behind a dominant showing from Notre Dame starting pitcher John M. Bertrand.
Bertrand went 8.1 innings allowing 4 hits, three walks, no earned runs and struck out eight batters.
Despite a close game on Friday, Clemson was overpowered in the next two games, losing 8-1 on Saturday and 9-3 on Sunday.
For the Tigers (19-12), right fielder Caden Grice turned in a quality series on offense. In the three games, Grice notched four hits, scored two runs and walked four times.
Next up for Clemson will be a one-game matchup against USC Upstate, April 12 in Greenville, South Carolina at 6 p.m.
Clemson will then face off against Wake Forest for a three-game weekend series in Winston-Salem, starting April 15 at 7 p.m. With the Tigers 0-4 in ACC series, head coach Monte Lee and his team will look to win its first conference series against the Demon Deacons.
