Clemson University’s Virtual Resource Portal is a feature that many students may have yet to discover.
Campus Recreation is always searching for new and innovative ways to create a platform for Clemson’s community “to stay active, engaged, and connected.” It is both an educational and activity platform highlighting the many programs and activities offered through Campus Recreation. Various videos are available through the portal, such as the Intro to Climbing series, and several other videos offered by Clemson’s Athletic Trainers, Personal Trainers and Group Fitness Instructors on training programs and workouts.
Many students find it difficult to come participate in many programs due to class times and not being able to find parking. The Virtual Resource Portal is beneficial to overcome personal and participation barriers. These videos allow students, faculty and staff to watch videos on their own time, with on-demand options.
It also allows the community to break fears in starting a new activity and becoming more comfortable and educated before going to a group. Kelly Bardusk, Director of External Relations, said, “We ultimately hope that participants use the portal as a steppingstone to more engagement with us, like going to group fitness classes in person, trying the Climbing Wall in Fike or going on a CORE trip with our team and helping to build the fire at night.”
Using the Virtual Resource Portal is a great way to learn new activities, skills and to also remain healthy while being busy with classes and meetings. The portal is a bridge to building a better Clemson community in making connections and friendships by going to our recreation center.
