How do you feel about the new e-scooter policies?
Speak Up! is our man on the street column, where we go around campus and ask students their thoughts on a hot topic each week. Do you have something to add to this week’s conversation? Let us know!
Madison Akers, Columnist collected this week’s responses and Nathan Goller-Deitsch, Web Editor collected this week’s photos.

“I think they’re perfectly within their right to control e-scooters. I have personally seen people being super irresponsible with it, however, I don’t think that they should have gone as far as to say, ‘we’re going to take legal action.’”
- Noah Fisher, a freshman chemical engineering major
-
“I think it’s good to have those rules… I’ve seen so many people fall on e-scooters and hurt themselves, and that can easily be avoided by just following rules.”
- Samuel Garringer, a junior bioengineering major
-
“I have seen e-scooters cut through the road, or go on the road, even when there’s a stop light or no crosswalk. I think it’s a good idea overall to at least have some regulation, not just for the safety of drivers, but for the safety of those who drive recklessly on e-scooters.”
- Amber Cassidy, a senior graphic communications major
-
“There have definitely been a couple circumstances where I’ve almost been hit by one, so I think it’s important to implement some kind of guidelines for them.”
- Grace Anderson, a sophomore nutrition major
