Taking on No 6. Notre Dame last Thursday night, the Clemson women’s soccer team managed a big upset and came out on top in a 2-0 game.
The Tigers could not have pulled off this feat without the incredible help of Halle Mackiewicz in goal. Mackiewicz had a season-high of six saves in the net.
With his starting goalie’s performance, Clemson head coach Eddie Radwanski’s job was much more manageable.
“Halle has just been getting better and better in goal, and her presence is evolving,” Radwanski said. “She’s a great shot stopper, and her kicking game has just been continuing to get better.”
Notre Dame’s offense has been dominant all season, and Mackiewicz’s has been one of the few to contain the Fighting Irish.
“Notre Dame is off to a fantastic start…we knew this was going be a blockbuster game, and credit to our kids for showing up and being ready,” Radwanski said.
Mackiewicz’s impressive performance helped the defense overall play a great game and keep The Irish from reaching the net.
“We’re fortunate to have such a great goalkeeper back there,” Radwanksi added.
Mackiewicz and the Tigers hope to carry this energy onto the road where they will face Wake Forest on Thursday at 8 p.m. EDT.
