A lot of things change along with the weather and your skin is no exception. Skin has different needs depending on the season and the climate you live in. This is an article of suggestions for types of products to include in your winter skincare routine so you can look your best all year round.
Cleanser
This is what you should use to wash your face in the morning and at night. They have many different types, so make sure you get one that will work with your type of skin. Looking at reviews online is a great way to make sure that the products you’re looking at work and are effective for your skin.
Hyaluronic Acid
This is an acid that is included in a lot of skincare products but I have found that it is most effective to use by itself. It is best for hydrating your skin and keeping it protected. After you wash your face, make sure it is still slightly damp and gently pat the hyaluronic acid all over your face. I would recommend this for all skin types during the winter, but people with dryer skin may need to use it twice a day rather than just once.
Moisturizer
This is another product that is very important for maintaining your skin’s hydration barrier. No matter what your skin type is, you should find a moisturizer that you like and that is suited to your skin type. I would recommend a thicker consistency during the winter because it will be more hydrating than a thinner one. Gel moisturizers are usually better for people with oily skin and lotion moisturizers are usually best for those with dry skin. It all depends on what you like, but keep in mind that you may need to find another product to use once it starts heating up again. Gently apply it all over your face and down your neck, concentrating on areas where you have dryer skin.
Sunscreen
SPF is one of the most important steps in skincare in my opinion. While it may not be plausible to do it every day, you should try to apply it on days you will spend a lot of time outside, regardless of whether it is sunny. Make sure when applying that you only do so in the morning and rub it into the skin thoroughly. This goes on at the end of your skincare routine, but before any makeup you may put on. Be sure to look at reviews for these products to see if they leave a white cast, that is not something you want to have!
Chapstick
Lastly, make sure you keep your lips moisturized with your favorite chapstick throughout the winter. This is so important for your lips, especially when harsh winter winds dry out you lips.
That’s all of the recommendations I have for your winter skincare plans. These are my opinions and may not work for everyone. Skincare is a lot of trial and error, so make sure to find the products that work the best for you. Remember that there is good skincare available at every price point!
