As the New Year rolls in and Clemson students jump back into their spring semester, many are committing themselves to — or at least trying — a series of new year’s resolutions, a tradition that goes back thousands of years. As the Omicron variant of COVID-19 continues to spread, and consequentially diminish our collective mental health, the desire to make some change in one’s life and one’s mindset is stronger than ever, especially here at The Tiger! Committed to bringing the most reliable news to Clemson students, as well as being the best students we can be, The Tiger staff is here to share some of our own resolutions with you all in hopes of inspiring some drive!
Emma Vick, one of our top senior reporters, is resolved to getting more sleep this year. In the face of school work and the many hours she puts into her reporting, sleep is a sparse commodity. But the new year brings new joys, and possibly new melatonin gummies.
Akim Koutsioukis, our TimeOut Editor, is determined to maintain his COVID-free streak, as well as taking his writing to the next level and turning a profit on it rather than “stashing it away on [his] computer so it’ll never see the light of day.” From one writer to another, it’s an impressive goal I wish him well on!
Dawson Baker, our Assistant News Editor, wants to get some fresh air during 2022, committing more time spent outdoors. Simply taking walks and being around nature is a great refresher, one we could all benefit a bit from, especially amid the isolating nature of COVID-19.
My personal resolution is rather vague — it’s much easier to feel accomplished that way. I’m trying to jump out of my comfort zone in every aspect, and start doing as much as I can. Whether that be hanging out with my friends more, picking up more hobbies, getting a new job, or experiencing the art and performances Clemson has to offer and reviewing it for you all; I’m ready to put myself out there and learn what I can!
We hope the new semester treats you all well, and that we can all help each other in completing our New Year’s resolutions!
