The national chapter of Alpha Gamma Rho says that it is aware of a situation between the Clemson chapter and the University.
The office responded to an email on Tuesday afternoon asking about a potential University investigation for hazing and the possibility of the chapter’s suspension.
“Alpha Gamma Rho is aware of the situation and cooperating with the university,” Rex Martin, CEO of the national Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, said in an email on Tuesday.
Clemson’s Interfraternity Council declined to comment, citing an inability to comment on these types of matters.
Two spokespeople for Clemson University did not respond to requests by phone and email for comment this week.
By law, Clemson publicizes all student code of conduct violations by student organizations at least 45 days before the beginning of each fall and spring semester.
There have been 18 cases involving hazing at Clemson University since the spring of 2013 that resulted in fraternities being disciplined, according to The Seneca Journal.
The Clemson community voted the University’s AGR chapter as Best Fraternity earlier this year in The Tiger’s Best of Clemson contest.
