Speak Up! Do you think that club sports are fairly supported by Clemson University?
“I feel like no. I feel like most of what is represented by Clemson is the athletics like football, basketball, obviously mainly football. But club sports you don’t really hear much about and you don’t really see a lot of advertisements trying to join.”
Veronica Calderon, sophomore financial management and accounting major
“Not fairly represented through like social media and promoting them on campus because I only have one friend that’s on a club team, and I know their schedule based off of that, and that is just for the lacrosse club, so I think that Clemson could do a better job promoting it through the way that they promote everything else.”
Angel Hoang, sophomore preprofessional health studies major
“I don’t really have a stand on that. I don’t play one, I don’t know a lot of guys that do. Actually, I know some guys on the lacrosse team. I’ve watched them play at Riggs Field one time, so I feel like that was pretty fire. Maybe if they give them more games at Riggs Field that would be better.”
Sam Wolfe, sophomore computer science major
“Not really. I played club soccer last year, and it’s kind of like we just did not have enough people one game, and there’s not like a big advertisement for it. And then, like, we didn’t have a ref one game, so we just kind of messed around for the whole time because there wasn’t a ref.”
Charles Young, sophomore computer information systems major
“Personally I only played club sports back when I was a freshman for the fall a couple years ago, back then I was on the lacrosse team, I did feel like it was fairly supported. However, I could see how a lot of times especially for intramural sports too, the fields aren’t really evenly distributed amongst all students and it could be more evenly distributed amongst everybody.”
