The Shepherd Hotel was founded just last year, and yet, its authentic hospitality and unique flair have allowed it to become recognized as the Best Hotel in Clemson in 2023.

The hotel houses Delish Sisters, a restaurant founded by two South African-born sisters, on its first floor. Delish Sisters serves breakfast, lunch and brunch meals based on family recipes and South African inspiration, bringing unique, flavorful dishes to the center of downtown Clemson.
Local inspiration shines through at the Thomas Bar, where customers can take in stunning views of the town of Clemson while enjoying local beer, wine and spirits.
Cofounder Rick Hayduk was inspired by his daughter with Down syndrome, Jamison, and envisioned a hotel where he could employ people with disabilities. With the help of Rich Davies and Dabo Swinney, this dream became a reality.
The Shepherd Hotel partners with the ClemsonLIFE program to help individuals with intellectual disabilities gain job experience and pursue their career goals. The ClemsonLIFE employees, in turn, bring a level of hospitality to the hotel that is like none other. Additionally, many of the unique pieces of art featured throughout the hotel are created by artists with disabilities, including American abstract artist Charlie French.
The Shepherd Hotel, though relatively new to the city, truly embodies the best of Clemson. Not only does it highlight the community it lies within, but it also introduces many new elements, giving it a distinctive style.
