The month of February is here and Clemson men’s basketball has started off the month great going 3-0 this past week with games against Wake Forest, Georgia Tech and most notably, a 59-51 win over No. 11 Virginia Tech this past Saturday.
Shelton Mitchell hit a career-high five three-pointers in the first half, on his way to a 22-point performance in the win over the Hokies. Marcquise Reed was second on the team in scoring with 15.
Clemson’s defense has been impressive throughout the last few contests, and that trend continued on Saturday against a Virginia Tech team that ranked No. 3 in three point shooting. Virginia Tech only shot 22.3 percent from three-point range in the second half. Eli Thomas said recently that Brad Brownell basketball is defense.
“If we want to win, we’ve gotta abide to his rules and play defense better and talk more and just be a ferocious team like we were last year,” Thomas said.
Clemson is starting to find their stride at the right time here in the month of February and that will need to continue if they’re going to make a bid for the postseason.
