At 1:15 p.m. on Mar. 6, 2020, CUSG Elections Director Marlena Heracklis stood on the amphitheater stage and announced the newly-elected student body president and vice president for the 2020-21 school year.
Jonathan Gundana and Emma Canedo received 2,814 votes 52.75 percent. Under the slogan “All for Clemson”, Gundana and Canedo campaigned with a platform that embodied connection, community and academics. “Emma and I are both really excited about this whole journey,” Gundana said. “We put a lot of work and a lot of effort into it. I think it really paid off and we’re just excited to serve. We’re excited to serve the student body; we’re excited to serve Clemson. But our students, they’re the most important. That’s why they’re here; that’s why Clemson’s here. We just want to serve and do our best, and really serve student government and make sure that we’re doing all we can and all for Clemson. Thank y’all for your support and go Tigers.”
Along with the announcement of the newly-elected student body president and vice president, the newly-appointed senators were also announced.
For the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences, the newly elected senators are Nathanael Stephens (303 votes) and Keslie Dean (154 votes).
For the College of Architecture, Arts and Humanities, Tate Fowler (1,034 votes) Mary Frances Huggins (513 votes) and Tyler Catoe (300 votes).
For the College of Behavioral, Social and Health Sciences, Emma Walker (971votes), Davis Cooney (448 votes), Andrew Lusk (436 votes), Sophie Finnell (381 votes) and Benjamin Hopkins (365 votes).
For the College of Business, Matthew Innocenti (891 votes), Anna Gardner (515 votes), True-Allah Liles (499 votes), Taylor Rodgers (452 votes), Tsagan-Zul Natalie Kutinow (421 votes) and Sudarshan Sridharan (353 votes).
For the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences, Blair Woody (615 votes), Gracie Anne Pope (484 votes), Callie Lewis (460 votes), Cassidy Smith (309 votes), Brittany Bynum (306 votes) and Joseph Carleton Henze (127 votes).
For the College of Science, Clare Mazzeo (321 votes), Jordan Drinks (317 votes), Casey Hird (275 votes) and Louise Franke (273 votes).
The newly elected Senators at Large are Jonathan Bruce (348 votes), Davis Nix Goodroe (300 votes), George Tyler McDougald (289 votes), Geoff Gilson (272 votes), Carson Drake Wood (268 votes), Samuel Snipes (265 votes), Margaret McHugh (248 votes), Hannah Jo Gertz (247 votes) Wilson Bialecki (244 votes), Tyriese Robinson (228 votes), Kaitlyn Siversten (216 votes), Thomas Reid Newell (206 votes), Jasmin Baxley (198 votes) Leila Sconyers (181 votes), Andrew Nace Jr (137 votes) and Steven Zuckerman (133 votes).
The following newly-elected senators were placed on senate through write-in votes. Shrek Strickland, Grayson York, John Tewksbury, Wayne Catoe, Michael Wolf, Lindsey Kirtley, John Brandenburg, Josh Rodgers, Clark Green, Bradley Elliott, John Newman and Adam Sagerman.
Hunter Bond will serve as the president of the senate. Jainada Williams will serve as president pro-tempore. Abby Kibler will serve as secretary and Matthew Spencer will serve as clerk. Melanie Magwood will serve as attorney general.
The senators will be sworn in later this month.
