It’s been two weeks since a plethora of orange-colored floats covered Bowman Field and attracted students and alumni alike. It’s been two weeks since Clemson sent the Wolfpack back to their den with their heads bowed in shame. It’s been two weeks since the night ended in disaster when the floor of the Woodlands Clubhouse fell out from underneath countless students at a Homecoming party.
According to a recent email by Clemson administration, the last of the students injured in the event have been released from the hospital, but there is still much recovering in store.
As for the building where the party took place, Woodlands resident Sayaka Reed, senior bioengineering major, stated that the Clubhouse is still taped off.
“There was a police officer guarding it this past weekend,” Reed said.
For people who live in the Woodlands or have attended parties in the Clubhouse before, this tragedy came as quite the surprise.
Reed, who attended parties in clubhouse before, stated that she was definitely shocked.
“At the party I went to…the dance floor was on the ground floor and the upstairs was pretty quiet, mostly just people hanging out and chatting,” Reed said.
Reed also acknowledged that this was usually standard procedure. With limits on maximum capacity in mind, it is unclear how any legal issues may proceed, or how the Clubhouse will work towards renovation.
