Hey, everyone! It’s your favorite office slacker, back at it again giving advice you didn’t ask for when she should probably be working!
I am sure you’ve experienced this before — you spend 90 percent of your car rides pushing buttons, trying to find a radio station that isn’t playing the worst music in the history of the universe (and they also end up all being on commercial at the same time anyways). Your Spotify recommended playlists aren’t doing it for you anymore either, and most of your friends’ recommendations are things you’ve heard and jammed out to before. Let’s face it, being stuck in this kind of music drought is one of the worst feelings ever. It might have even driven you to reading advice articles by bored managing editors that don’t have anything else to do but write at work (oh the horror!). But have no fear guys — I’ve curated a list of new and unique artists, bands and songs that are my personal favorites to listen to to help you get back into the music flow again!
Rayland Baxter
I have been following Rayland Baxter for a few years — ever since I had the privilege of seeing him open up for The Lumineers in concert. This is the perfect kind of music for a chill hangout where you also want a catchy tune. Personal favorites include songs like “Olivia,” “Tell Me Lover” and “Driveway Melody” — although my all-time favorite is “Yellow Eyes.” Not so sure? Go check him and his new album out and enjoy the surge of #indie vibes you will be feeling!

“Youngblood” – 5 Seconds of Summer
Most of you have probably already heard songs like “She’s Kinda Hot” or “She Looks So Perfect” by the band 5 Seconds of Summer on the radio before. However, they have recently come out with a new album this summer that has truly left me jamming out in the car. Need to hardcore jam for the car? Listen to “Youngblood” or “Babylon.” Need a sad jam sesh? Listen to “Ghost of You” or “Lie To Me.” Either way, You won’t be left disappointed once you give this band a little listen!

Daniel Caesar
From the second I heard this angel’s voice, I haven’t been able to get his songs out of my head. Daniel Caesar offers so many amazing songs that’ll leave you wishing you had the ability to sing along. Songs like “We Found Love” will remind you of all of the good parts of Chance the Rapper with a smooth twist. While you are at it, give “Japanese Denim,” “Blessed” and “Little Row Boat” a try. This summer I have been trying to come close to singing the beautiful melody of “A Capella” with no success.

Rainbow Kitten Surprise
Now I know the name might deter you a little, but hear me out on this one folks. After a lot of insistence by my friend, I finally gave a listen to the band and was not let down in the slightest. After about five minutes of listening, I ended up buying tickets for their concert if that gives you any insight. This band is perfect for a little dance session with songs like “Cocaine Jesus” and “First Class.” Personally, the song that sealed my love for the band is “Shameful Company.” If I had to make a list of their best songs, I would end up just listing all of their albums. So go ahead and give this band a listen!
