Clemson Undergraduate Student Government and Clemson Panhellenic are holding a supply drive to help the Clemson community after the effects of Hurricane Helene last week left many incapacitated.
The “Post-Hurricane Call To Action Food Drive” runs from Oct. 2-9. All items will be taken to Clemson Community Care at 105 Anderson Highway on Oct. 10 and donated to those in need as a result of Hurricane Helene.
To organize the drive, CUSG collaborated with Clemson Greek life, including Clemson’s National Pan-Hellenic Council, the Clemson Interfraternity Council and the Multicultural Greek Council.
Students received an email from CUSG on Oct. 2 detailing the items needed for the drive. The list includes different types of food and ingredients, ranging from soup to two-pound bags of flour and sugar to canned meat and fish. Additionally, the drive requests items such as laundry detergent, toiletries, diapers and paper products.
The Tiger reached CUSG and Clemson Panhellenic for comment, neither of whom responded by publication.
The email notified students that they should drop off supplies at the Hendrix Student Center loading dock any time from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. from Oct. 2-9.
“As our community and the surrounding areas recover from the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, we encourage everyone to stay up to date on official university communications about closures and happenings,” the email stated.
CUSG encourages students to reach out with any questions at [email protected].
