The Clemson athletic department has become renowned in recent years for its strong social media presence, producing seemingly endless content for fans to enjoy. In light of the public’s growing inclination for podcasts, the athletic media team has created several of their own.
With a Clemson+ account, which comes with an IPTAY membership, fans receive access to these streams. Recently, Wade Woodaz, Barrett Carter, Bryant Westco Jr., T.J Moore and others have been featured on “2 Right Turns | A Clemson Football Podcast.”
In the 20 to 30-minute episodes, the players are invited to chat about their recent games and notable plays while also having a lighthearted conversation with the host. This allows listeners to not only hear their favorite players talk about football but also provides fans with a little more insight into who these players are off the field.
“2 Right Turns” releases a new episode either weekly or bi-weekly.
The podcasts don’t stop with just football.
Tori Neeman, Clemson’s assistant athletic director and director of student-athlete development, hosts “Beyond the Paw,” a noteworthy chat with athletes, getting to know them as more than just point-scorers.
Clemson soccer alumnae Megan Bornkamp and Ally Lynch also co-host this podcast. Bornkamp is a graduate student from Mooresville, North Carolina and Lynch is a senior from Los Angeles, California.
“Beyond the Paw” focuses on the importance of acknowledging that while these players hold the title of a Clemson athlete, they are just as much college students, teenagers and ordinary people as every other young adult on campus trying to navigate life.
There have been guests from both men’s and women’s soccer, football, track and cross country, women’s volleyball and basketball. The hosts do an extraordinary job at connecting these athletes to their campus and fellow students and giving the players an outlet to chat without judgment and feel known for more than just their athletic abilities.
The newest addition to the Clemson podcast scene will surely bring recognition to the female Tigers as it celebrates the 50th year of women’s varsity athletics at Clemson University.
“She Will Triumph” honors the past, present and future of women’s sports here on campus and highlights the achievements and utter excellence of the female sports presence.
Valerie Johnson, sports information director for volleyball and softball and the host of “She Will Triumph,” leads a conversation that brings recognition to female athletes and the struggles they face within the world of sports.
With female empowerment at the core of this production, the intent is for listeners to feel inspired by the stories shared. Episodes of this podcast are released each month.
Also available to listen in on are Jason Wilson’s “Hot Mic,” discussing athletes’ biggest moments, and his other show, “The Something,” where he shares all about the electric Clemson atmosphere and culture, “Power” with Nieman, bringing light to the student athletes’ leadership and adversity and last but certainly not least, “Tiger Hour,” hosted by the big-time names of Clemson Athletics — football head coach Dabo Swinney and basketball head coach Brad Brownell.
