2025 is here, and with a new year comes new fashion trends. Fashion doesn’t just mean clothes but also hairstyles, accessories, makeup and much more. If you’re looking for a new style in 2025, here are the trends that I expect to see throughout the year.
Mom jeans and baggy jeans were all the rage the last few years, but flare jeans are weaseling their way back in. I anticipate an influx of jeans that are fitted through the upper leg and begin to flare towards the calf area. I suggest pairing these with your favorite pair of heeled boots, kitten heels or casual sneakers. This goes for leather pants as well. I don’t think that classic leather pants are on the way out, but I do think that flare leather pants are on their way in.
Slowly but surely, crop tops are on their way out and are being replaced with fitted shirts or body suits that compliment the larger pant legs. I expect to see more lace and bold colors, such as bright red and royal blue, along with the ever-popular neutral tops. While the weather is still cold, I expect to see leather blazers, cropped puffer coats and long faux fur coats to top off an outfit.
While slicked-back hairstyles have been popular among young women, I predict that they will be replaced with messy updos, and tight curls will be replaced with voluminous blowouts. For those who struggle with volume, I think wearing your hair straight will also become more popular. Although long hair never truly goes out of style, short, layered bobs have become the newest trend.
Currently, it seems that brunettes have more fun. There are multiple popular shades of brunette, including chocolate brown, caramel-colored highlights and even black hair. What I expect to become the most popular this year, though, is the “cherry cola” shade of brunette.
The “clean girl” makeup has been one of the largest trends of 2024, but 2025 is bringing back the days of smokey eyes and bold lips. I expect to see heavier makeup with tightlined eyes, heavy blush and fewer neutral colors.
The popularity of short boots has been short-lived, and knee-highs are back. Heeled leather boots are perfect for your classy dinner party outfit or your foxy night out. While our sneakers are comfy, we have to say goodbye to them when building our favorite outfits. It’s time that we replace them with kitten heels, pointed toe flats or loafers.
To top it off, necklace stacks will be the new jewelry of choice paired with chunky rings and hoops. Instead of picking gold or silver jewelry, I predict that mixed metal is going to be one of the biggest trends in 2025.
