The Center for Student Leadership and Engagement held a carnival-themed festival in the Barnes Center on Friday, Oct. 7 from 9 p.m. to midnight in order to celebrate Involvement Week and kick off fall on Clemson’s campus.
Barney and Friends Festival, as it was called, was hosted by CSLE and TigerLive Entertainment, with both clubs tabling the event along with Central Spirit and the U-NITES! team.
While no big purple dinosaur was in attendance, Barney, the Barnes Center’s mascot, was there along with other exciting organizations!
Inside the Barnes Center, there were carnival games, board games and other activities. At every table there were fun prizes, Clemson stickers and an adorable stuffed animal gifted to everyone that came. Students who visited both the Central Spirit and TigerLive tables were able to play a game and win a small prize from the CSLE host.
The event would not have been complete without the very on-theme food provided of cotton candy, fresh popcorn and soft drinks. A pop artist known as Chris56, from Corpus Christi, Texas, made an appearance as the musical guest of the evening, performing songs alongside his DJ.
Outside the Barnes Center, students had the opportunity to wave the giant game day flag with Central Spirit, take photos and learn more about the club.
Clemson U-NITES! has many exciting things coming up, such as goat yoga at 7 p.m. on Oct. 14 in the Barnes Center.
The Barney and Friends Fest is one of many alcohol-alternative late-night events that Clemson U-NITES! hosts. They strive to provide students with fun activities and opportunities, the next of which is their “Thank Goodness It’s Thursday” event on Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.
The U-NITES! team is currently hiring students to help plan and market their events. The application can be found on Clemson JobLink. Their Instagram, @clemson_csle, posts updates on the various events they plan to hold in the future.
