The MLS season is coming to a close, and Clemson United alumni have been making an impact in the league. 
With young stars such as Robbie Robinson and Quinn McNeill breaking onto the scene and seasoned veteran Tommy McNamara continuing to play at a high level, the MLS is filled with former Tigers as the playoff race intensifies.
New England Revolution’s McNamara has been the most dominant Tiger in this year’s campaign.
After providing stability and attacking prowess to the Revolution a season ago, the 31-year-old has returned as a staple of the team’s midfield.
In his 26 starts, McNamara has scored four goals, including a spectacular game winner against FC Cincinnati, and has assisted on three more. His 79.1% completed long pass rate is 30th best in the league.
As of Tuesday, McNamara and New England currently sit eighth in the Eastern Conference standings, just three points back of a playoff position.
McNamara will look to propel New England to a playoff berth with just three games left to play in the regular season.
Robinson, a striker and winger for Inter Miami CF, was enjoying a prolific season before he suffered a hamstring tear in June. Before the injury, the former No. 1 overall draft pick had a goal, an assist and nine key passes in his eight appearances.
Miami sits five points out of a playoff spot with five games left to play. Unless the team can make a deep playoff run, fans will have to wait until next year to see the promising young forward in action again. 
Meanwhile, in its inaugural season, Charlotte FC signed two players from Clemson’s 2021 National Championship winning team: Quinn McNeill and George Marks. 
McNeill, one of the league’s most interesting stories of the year, went undrafted in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft but was signed by Charlotte.
Following a coaching change, McNeill quickly worked his way up to the first team and has started ten matches this season, including eight of the last 11.
He has been one of Charlotte’s more consistent players in a very turbulent season, recording a goal and two assists and providing a notable uptick in defensive intensity when on the field. 
While Charlotte is all but eliminated from the playoff race, McNeill’s rapid emergence is something for Clemson fans to keep an eye heading into next season.
Marks, one of the heroes of the 2021 NCAA Championship run and a Clemson fan favorite, was drafted by Charlotte FC in the third round of this year’s MLS SuperDraft. Marks was selected as Charlotte’s second-string goalkeeper over multiple veteran options and is poised to make a strong impact in coming years. 
Oskar Ågren, a 2021 All-ACC first team member, was drafted 13th overall by the San Jose Earthquakes. The 23-year-old has since made three starts for the Earthquakes, logging four tackles, four interceptions and two blocked shots.
